KPI-based health assessment for water cycle of Handan

Abstract:

The degree of the dualistic evolution of the urban water cycle becomes increasingly prominent in recent ten years,but no any relevant assessments made on its changing process. Based on the connotation of the urban water cycle and combined with all the key attributes of water resources,a KPI( Key Performance Index)-based method for the health assessment on urban water cycle is established from the four dimensions within the urban water cycle system,i. e. water quantity,water quality,water ecology and extreme event,so as to scientifically and objectively reflect the health status of urban water cycle. Moreover,by taking Handan as a study case,the health status of water cycle of the city from 2007 to 2012 is assessed. The result shows that the water cycle of Handan from 2007 to 2010 is in a common morbid state and from 2011 to 2012 is in a sub-health state,in which the health scores assessed for the year of 2008 is 2. 33 which is at the lowest point of the health of the water cycle since recent ten years and also the turning point of the health status of the water cycle. After that,the water cycle of Handan is gradually improved and expected to be restored to the health status.
